The Music of Civil Rights, from Strange Fruit to The Roots
Music has always been central to the African American quest for freedom. The Civil Rights struggle and its music provided some of America’s most powerful calls of hope, moral clarity, and equity.
During the 19th century, spirituals such as Steal Away carried coded protest. In the 20th century, protest became explicit. In the 1930s Ethel Waters sang an anti-lynching song that shocked Broadway and Billie Holiday bravely recorded the stinging song Strange Fruit. Duke Ellington’s long career spoke for racial respect and civil rights in such pieces as Black Beauty and [Martin Luther] King Fit the Battle of Alabam’.
As political action picked up and in the 1950s and 1960s, We Shall Overcome became the clarion anthem of the Civil Rights movement and central to America’s moral quest for “a more perfect Union.” Old songs like This Little Light of Mine took on new meaning and fresh songs appeared such as If You Miss Me from the Back of the Bus. Black and white activists alike sang Bob Dylan’s Blowin’ in the Wind. And great artists-such as Sam Cooke (A Change is Gonna Come), The Impressions (People Get Ready), James Brown (Say It Loud), Nina Simone, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, on up to The Roots-all sang to advance respect and equality.
Dr. John Edward Hasse, long-time music curator at the Smithsonian and Duke Ellington’s biographer, plays stirring video clips of these songs that inspired, motivated, and advocated for what Martin Luther King called for in his “I have a dream” speech: that we all be judged not by the color of our skin, “but by the content of our character.” He also plays works by W.C. Handy and Duke Ellington that helped lay the musical foundation for the Civil Rights movement.

New Directions in Particle Physics
Переглядів 8799 годин тому
Our immense universe began at the unimaginably tiny quantum scale, and to understand the formation of matter, physicists collide subatomic particles. The Large Hadron Collider has produced many discoveries, but it has limitations in the range of data it can capture. Dr. Tulika Bose, who has been prominently involved in the work of the LHC, says “We really should be looking at new physics at a m...

In "Little Men" Louisa lived in a farm house. I don't know how Alcott could not manage Fruit Lands. To live in a farm is the most real non utopic thing you can make. Maybe because I read he thought he could not use cows to plough the land. He was rather selfish and unrealistic and a bad father who judged people for the smallest flaws. A great psychologist or philosopher but a very bad father. Slavery was not wrong in itself either. Freedom in slavery is stood by apostle Paul. You don't need physical freedom but freedom from sin. English women had house maids but what was wrong was how black women made it all: They cared for the white children not their very own mothers and they breastfed them giving opportunity to their owners to give birth to endless numbers of children, just as in England. Population growth is the great Evil, it is in the Bible. The real Devil. He had four daughters. Ana and May had children and in doing so they were unfortunate like Charlotte Brontë.

WHY GOD CANNOT EXIST : Newborns with the horrible and fatal Tay-Sachs disease IF GOD DOES "NOT" EXIST, EVERYTHING IS ALLOWED? - IF GOD "DOES" EXIST, EVERYTHING IS ALLOWED TOO! Revelation 22:20 : 'Surely I come quickly.' E.g. During the generation of Paul! 2000 years: is that "quickly"?? Prof. Etienne VERMEERSCH (ex-jesuit who became atheist) on senseless suffering versus an All-powerful, All-good, All-knowing God, who created the world. If such existed: 'A child born with the hereditary Tay-Sachs disease undergoes progressive damage to the entire nervous system, causing vision, hearing, the feeling becomes a horrible suffering. This process of decline continues slowly but surely, until the child dies inexorably around the age of four. For the parents this is a horror, for an innocent baby it is the very essence of completely pointless suffering.' ESCAPE ROUTES OF BELIEVERS 1. Believer: “Suffering does not come from God, but from the people themselves” Prof Vermeersch: 'But this disease is the result of a disturbance in the genetic material that one may or may not inherit from one's ancestors and for which no human being is to blame . Only the 'Creator' of the DNA code did not do his job properly. An analogous argument can be developed in connection with all hereditary diseases, with the existence of pathogenic bacteria and viruses, and also in connection with natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, drought... In all these cases, man is not to blame and is alone. the Creator is responsible. If he existed.' 2. Believer: “Suffering comes from God, but it is a punishment for people's sin” Prof Vermeersch: 'The child with Tay-Sachs disease has never had the chance to commit a single sin: it is completely innocent. Even if there were an Adam and Eve, and an 'original sin' - which obviously makes no sense from the theory of evolution, it remains a horrible injustice that an innocent baby would have to pay for others.' 3. Believer: "The child is suffering now, but it will be all the more happy in heaven." Prof Vermeersch: "If one means by this that an equally innocent child who dies without suffering will therefore be less happy later, that is a strange thought. If God is omnipotent, he can make all the children in his heaven be completely happy, without the need for suffering. If God is infinitely good, he WILL not let an innocent child suffer needlessly for even half a day, let alone three up to 5 years! He is too late, period. The conclusion is that God is either a monster or he doesn't exist.' 4. Believer: “All that is true, but we little people cannot judge the ways of God.” Prof Vermeersch: 'That answer means the end of all rational thinking. If a person refuses to use his or her reasonable thinking and deepest moral principles to answer the question of the existence of God, what else can one appeal to in reaching a decision? The feeling, the upbringing, a whim? But then all people, whatever their view of God (including a god who demands human eating, torture, human sacrifice, etc.) are equally right; for all can say, “the ways of our god are unsearchable.” 5. Prof Vermeersch: The most honest and sensitive believers who have dealt with this problem give the following answer: “God is not omnipotent, he cannot prevent all suffering, he can also suffer himself.” Prof. Vermeersch: 'It remains indisputable that all Christian creeds begin with the words: "Pisteuo eis hena theon patera pantokratora" (I believe in one God, Father, Almighty - literally: 'all-controlling').' 'A non-Almighty God is simply not consistent with the Christian concept of God and, moreover, the concept of God then becomes very vague. What power does he still have? Maybe he can't do anything at all? The temptation then arises to attribute everything that is good to him and to say that, unfortunately, he cannot do anything about everything that is bad. Well, then it's certainly not good, and even completely unnecessary. In short, a god 'à la carte'. A product of 'wishful thinking'. Despite all my respect for those who developed this view - in deep desperation - I have to say that I find this difficult for a rational person to process and completely unbelievable.' One last question to think about : Will there be a so-called 'free will' in the 'Afterlife'? Prof. ETIENNE VERMEERSCH Honorary vice-rector of University Ghent (Belgium) Prof Vermeersch was a Philosopher, Bioethicist, Classical Philologist (Greek-Latin), Philosopher of Science, and father of the abortion and euthanasia laws in Belgium. ________________________ Newborn mortality WHO - 14 March 2024 Key facts The first month of life is the most vulnerable period for child survival, with 2.3 million newborns dying in 2022. Neonatal deaths have decreased by 44% since 2000. Yet in 2022, nearly half (47%) of all deaths in children under 5 years of age occurred in the newborn period (the first 28 days of life), which is among the most vulnerable periods of life and requires intensified quality intrapartum and newborn care. In 2022, sub-Saharan Africa accounted for 57% (2.8 (2.5-3.3) million) of total under-5 deaths but only 30% of global live births. Sub-Saharan Africa had the highest neonatal mortality rate in the world at 27 deaths per 1000 live births, followed by central and southern Asia, with a neonatal mortality rate of 21 deaths per 1000 live births. Premature birth, birth complications (birth asphyxia/trauma), neonatal infections and congenital anomalies remain the leading causes of neonatal deaths. Children who die within the first 28 days of birth suffer from conditions and diseases associated with lack of quality care at birth or skilled care and treatment immediately after birth and in the first days of life. Women who receive midwife-led continuity of care (MLCC) provided by professional midwives, educated and regulated to internationals standards, are 16% less likely to lose their babies and 24% less likely to experience a pre-term birth.

#DipoleElectronFloodTheory I’ve been saying since 2013 that it seems extremely (Occam's Razor) obvious that all electrons and all photons are in orbit with a dark matter particle and I’ve shared my theory literally many thousands of times with hundreds of the world’s top physics universities, professors, labs, channels, etc. Based on Fermilab, CERN and other recent findings, I now more specifically think electrons are made of an electron neutrino entangled in orbit with a dark matter muon neutrino, explaining their erratic orbits around nuclei, superposition, uncertainty, the double slit, etc just like I’ve been saying since 2013. And I think when the electron neutrino gets entangled with the muon neutrino it creates the Higgs field. I think when an electron gets a 2nd muon neutrino, it’s what we call a Tau particle and I think photons are a pair of electrons entangled in orbit together in apparent axial or helical polarizable wave-like movement depending on the direction of their rotation as they travel. This explains string theory, the double slit experiment, uncertainty, superposition, etc and the speed of the rotation explains electromagnetic wavelengths. It also explains ‘’the ultraviolet catastrophe’’ with the separation of the electron and muon neutrinos due to the higher energy. I also think protons and neutrons are actually made up of over 1,800 electrons with the muon neutrinos likely all clustered in the center surrounded by the same number of electron neutrinos. ‘’If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.’’ -- Nikola Tesla

Physics nowadays is using way too much brute force approaches. Lacks new really creative directions that originate brand new physical breakthroughs, like we seen in the beginning of the 20th scentury, where complete new pictures of nature were revealed by bold and creative minds. This makes the case for motivating just going bigger and bigger, and increasingly expensive, very difficult to pass on to the general public, and ultimately the tax payer. I feel that this is making the general public (very sadly) just loose interest, and funding becoming harder. The overall public perception is that increasingly diminishing returns are being presented at the cost of the need for increasingly more money, making it an rather unsustainable direction, and harder and harder to build the case for decision-makers. I don't know where physics lost its track along the way, and the deep motive for it, but there is something fundamentaly being lost somewhere, in the pursue for new exciting and breakthrough science.

After learning, studying and becoming a neuroscientist, I cannot believe this Rabbi’s ridiculous arguments concerning ‘free-will,’ with an example being “what is causing me to pick up this glass of water?” 😂 what’re you arguing? That life is purely predetermined? Why would a person not consider the biochemical processes involved? The autonomic necessitating of nutrients and water, of neurotransmitters and hormones? Sensory organs and systemic function explains everything we do, from the simple inquiry, to the attraction of another person-from cat/dog preferences (toxoplasmosis with cats, and emotional manipulation with dogs, just like children), all intertwining with sociocultural environmental conditions, and individual experiences, given behavioural conditioning, as is developed through those most crucial years. He asks why he he drinks from his water (biochemical, psychological and environmental factors are at play), I ask you, why do you eat Cheetos when you are hungry, and ice cream in your bed? The answers are the same. It’s all biologically imperative. A Creator would never be an interventionist, after all, if he is a creator, he is a scientist, and he would know not to intervene and skew the experiment…

Where in all this scholarly discussion and references to the philosophies and opinions of men is God? Does anyone not see that all this strife we experience in and from the world is due to our disobedience to God by our free will, ignorance, and deception? Is it not written, those who say they know, know not what they ought to know? And, Let us hear the end of all: fear God and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man? Why are these and all God's words missing from these discussions? What is capitalism, communism, socialism, fascism... to God? Why are His words replaced with the artful and deceptive words and opinions of men? And, why do we applaud opinions? Do we disagree with our Maker? All that we are experiencing this day and in the past is accurately prophesized by the Almighty. What wisdom is there in ignoring this knowledge and understanding? This was a discussion about the follies of man and the opinions of men throughout time to overcome the same. Why not listen to God about what our problems are and how to overcome them. After all, He made us and all things. Those who say otherwise have no knowledge, and, because of this, will never learn how to overcome their disability and iniquity, nor be able to teach another to do the same.

The Federal Reserve, monopolies in media, publishing, combined with being up to their eyeballs in communist spying/treason, political global assassinations, including JFK, RFK, the USS Liberty, 9/11, illegal activities in nuclear theft, procurement, and refusal to join the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty, make this rogue, tribal, cult, a quintessential threat to not only our nation and republic, but the world as well. After Ethic Cleansing of Muslims in Gaza,
After Ethnic Cleansing of Christians in Greater Israel Ukraine,
After Ethnic Cleansing the world with 6.2 billion bioweapon shots ,
It’s time to investigate why Israel’s “excessive death” toll, despite being the most extensively jabbed nation on earth, is so low.
